The activities of the BIA – Union of the Bulgarian Business are realized mainly through its basic structural units – the branch (sector) associations, chambers and unions.

From a historical level, BIA played a serious initiating and motivating role for the recognition of the branch organizations in Bulgaria. As early as the beginning of the economic transition – in the nineties of the 20th Century, BIA has urged and rendered methodological support to the process of the setting up of the branch organizations, which today cover practically all areas of the Bulgarian economy and they partner the governmental institutions when determining the sector economic policy.
At present BIA membership incorporates 87 branch organizations, unions and chambers that cover all 26 positions of the national classifier of economic activities in Bulgaria. The membership of a particular branch organization incorporates from 10 to 1000 legal persons.
